Zombies Invade Maryland!

This Fall, a brand new race will be coming to Darlington, Maryland.  It's like the Warrior Dash, but with brain-eating zombie twist.  Run For Your Lives will be bringing the first zombie-themed obstacle course to the Mid-Atlantic region on October 22.

Like many obstacle course races, there will be wave starts and you will have twelve obstacles to overcome.  Twelve obstacles and the undead.  Out on the course zombies will be wandering about looking to grab race-issued flags from participants.  Sort of like flag football, but instead of 100 yards, you need to travel 5,000 meters.  And instead of undersized linebackers, you're trying to avoid flesh-starved zombies.

The final list of obstacles has not yet been released, but if you choose to run this Fall, you can expect the Terrible Tubes (a "sewage" system that you must crawl through) and peculiar twist at the finish line:  a fence.  You know, to keep the zombies out.

At the end, you will be rewarded with a medal recognizing either your completion of the course or zombie transformation, and the top three finishers overall, and in each age group will receive awards and be invited back to be lead zombies at the next race.

Also, if running from zombies is not your thing, you can purchase the Apocalypse Pass that gets you entrance to the finish line celebration where there will be eight bands playing (not all at once), vendors, food

For those of you who live in other parts of the country, don't despair.  Run For Your Lives will be spreading (as is the nature of the zombie apocalypses)  in 2012.

  1. I don't kmow how I feel about this - I might be tempted to actually harm the zombies, dependant upon my level of adrenaline at the time, in which case, I might get in some trouble, considering these zombies are actual human beings...
