Beth Thinks I'm Weird

...for many reasons.

Besides, the obvious, there's the foods I don't like. I don't like tomatoes -I wish I liked tomatoes, because they're everywhere, but I don't, I don't like nuts besides peanuts, and I don't like raisins.

But the strangest thing I don't like is frozen corn. I mean, after it's thawed. I love corn on the cob and canned corn, but if it comes out of the freezer, I hate it.

You're reaction is probably the same that most people have when I tell them this. They don't believe me. But then, when they try canned corn, then they try frozen corn they notice the difference. They probably still like frozen corn. But at least they understand.

  1. My husband prefers canned corn also, but he adds a bunch of butter and salt even to that.

  2. How could you write a whole blog post about how I think you're weird and not once mention getting up at ridiculous hours of the morning to run crazy distances in the frigid weather? :)

  3. Do you still dislike hotdogs? Cause I've always thought that was weird.

I can understand the frozen corn thing. I'll eat it, if it's what's for dinner, but I never buy it and I prefer not to eat it. Mom never bought it, though...we always had canned or fresh, so it just may be the way we were raised on that one.

  4. I totally get that. Maybe that makes me weird too. I can't eat any kind of califlour no matter what it's smothered in. They used to grow it where I grew up and it really smells in the fields. I can't shake that smell from my head.

  5. The whole post is more about the frozen corn thing than why you think I'm weird - I figured all the running went without saying.

And yes, I do like hot dogs now. I even get a hankering for them now and then. Of course, I just read Mike J's blog and now I can't stop thinking about banana pancakes with peanut butter and maple syrup.

  6. I'm of the firm opinion that frozen corn should only be used in soup, canned corn should only be used in buttery corn casserole-type dishes (which I rarely eat), and the only real way to go is fresh ears of corn soaked in water for 30 minutes then wrapped in foil and grilled until tender and perfect. Served with a succulent grilled meat and watermelon, by a lake on a summer day. Followed by a rousing game of ultimate frisbee.

  7. WOW! 6 comments about corn (or being weird?). Who would have thought corn (or being weird) would arouse so much interest. It seems people have been holding this in for a long time. Thanks, Jeff, for opening up about this. I think America feels better. BTW, I was raised on canned corn but prefer frozen now and my kids won't eat canned. I feel better now too. Thanks again!

  8. I have the same reaction for peas and green beans. I much prefer the canned varieties of both of those vegetables than the frozen variety.
